From its original headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area, PCS began operations with a mission to support America’s maritime readiness through reliable, efficient, and standards-compliant vessel operations. Over the years, PCS has grown into a trusted partner of both the commercial maritime sector, as well as U.S. government through the U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command (MSC) and the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD). With this diversification, the company became known as Patriot Maritime in deference to the company’s more diverse portfolio of service offerings. The company also began using its American Ship Management (ASM) brand in its third party ship management activities.
In its early years, Patriot took on management of steam, diesel, and gas turbine-powered vessels, including RO-RO and LASH cargo ships. As national needs evolved, Patriot expanded its service offering to include the operation of a series of Ready Reserve Force (RRF) ships. Shortly thereafter, the company began to operate a fleet of both Bob Hope class and Watson class Large Medium-Speed Roll-on Roll-off ships (LMSR’s), quickly earning a reputation for responsiveness and reliability. The company has successfully executed over 100 vessel activations, often with minimal notice, supporting global military operations and humanitarian missions.
In recent years, the company has expanded into vessel ownership and has diversified its service offerings and client base to include commercial entities as well. The company has also expanded its support footprint with a new Headquarters location in the Houston, Texas area, with a strong focus on Operations, Procurement, Technical Support, Crewing, Contract Administration, and IT Services.
Throughout its history, Patriot has remained committed to operational excellence and regulatory compliance. The company maintains certifications under the ISM Code and ISO standards (9001, 14001, and 27001), reflecting its focus on quality, environmental stewardship, and information security. Celebrating more than 25 years of service, Patriot continues to play a vital role in sustaining the U.S. maritime industry and national defense.
