Patriot is proud to have been chosen by MARAD to be the first company to provide commercial ship management for a State Maritime Academy training ship.
Patriot worked closely with MARAD, Texas A&M and Massachusetts Maritime to coordinate all aspects of the TS Kennedy operation in preparation for the cadet summer cruise. The vessel departed Buzzards Bay with 313 cadets and 68 faculty, staff and crew and made port calls in Port Canaveral, New Orleans, Corpus Christi and Tampa before returning to Buzzards Bay and returning the vessel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy 60 days later.
“It was truly an all-hands-on-deck effort,” said RADM Michael Rodriguez, superintendent of the Texas A&M Maritime Academy. “The whole Texas A&M Galveston community came together on this effort as well as Texas A&M University in College Station, the Maritime Administration, Patriot Contract Services, the unions, our Navy’s Strategic Sealift community, and friends who work with us every summer. There was plenty of excitement in the months leading up to the voyage that carried through to the end. That enthusiasm will propel us into a new term and a brighter future for our Academy.”
Patriot congratulates MARAD, Texas A&M, Mass Maritime and our contracted unions for working together to provide such a successful voyage and opportunity for the Texas A&M cadets.
