Jared Trimarchi Joint Base Charleston Public Affairs 4/26/2016 - JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The U.S. Naval Ship Red Cloud departed Joint Base Charleston, S.C. - Weapons Station, April 19, 2016, after being loaded with supplies and equipment by the Army Strategic Logistics Activity Charleston and the 841st Transportation Battalion. The ship, which is part of Army Prepositioned Stock - 3, belongs to the Military Sealift Command, a subset of the U.S. Navy.
This photo was taken just as the SISLER was ordered to join the formation. SISLER increased speed to stationing speed of 16 Knots and kept on the opposite course of the column until she could turn 180 degrees and join the formation as the last ship in the column. It takes about ½ mile or 1000 yards of transfer to reverse course.
